A friend and I were talking about retirement locations. Lake County Florida came up. Lots of reasonably priced - foreclosed - real estate to be had...fabulous boating water...and winter is probably pleasant, but what's summer like?
Thought I'd ask here since a lot of you have been there and may have talked with the local folks about it.

Thanks

Peter

It rains for an hour. then gets hot, and the bugs are everywhere. My favorite are the Love Bugs that mate in air and fly around joined together in swarms that you can't get off your windshield, and Sand Flees that sting like a hot needle. You couldn't pay me to live there. Ya need a lake place in Minnesota for the summer. Next door to Del. Then your neighbor won't complain about how many boats you have.

All I know is yard work can be a bit$$. Weeds can get to your collection fast. But maybe thats not a bad thing.

Peter I think the only way to really find out what people think of the weather at Mt Dora in the summer is to talk to the locals that live there. Now the best way to do that would be to plan a trip there. I would suggest going around the 18th through the 21st of March. That way you will have a large group of support people ( enablers) to help you with some of the tuff questions and answers. And it will be a very nice break from the Denver weather.

Then come up here and spend some time. I'll break out a fresh bottle of VSOP.
